Boyd's Buzzard, Buteo boydi is a species of Buteo in the Accipitridae family. It is found through Europe. It is closely related to the Red-tailed Hawk and Rough-legged Buzzard, and may have evolved from the latter.[alt. univ.]

Etymology[edit]

It is named after John Boyd III, the owner of Taxonomy in Flux.[real world]

Description[edit]

Boyd's Buzzard is a large 20–23 in (51–58 cm) buteo, with a wingspan of 50–56 in (130–140 cm). It usually weighs around 2.25–3.25 lb (1.02–1.47 kg).

Similar species[edit]

Common Buzzard has a white breast. Rough-legged Buzzard only has black on its belly and legs. Golden Eagle is larger and dark all over.
