Also known as the Overgrown Sparrow.

Desciption[edit]

Males are recognizable by their chest patterns which consist of a black coloured "cross" or "anchor" design. Giant Sparrows are larger and plumper than other sparrows. Their bills are noted to being sharper and more curved as well.

Their plumage is of a dominant grey colour with a dull brown colour on its wings. Their crowns are of a chestnut brown colour. Giant Sparrows have black bills and legs.

Similar species[edit]

Closely related to the House Sparrow. However, it is significantly bigger and more aggressive than its close relative. Originally thought to be a considerably larger variant of the House Sparrow, the Giant Sparrow was later named as its own species.

Occasionally eats small vertebrates.

Found throughout Shire; however, they are more commonly seen in woodlands and forests.
