Golden Hamsters (Mesocricetus auratus) are a breed of hamsters first discovered in the Syrian desert. Despite their declining numbers in the wild, they are popularly kept as domesticated pets.

Description[edit]
Stout and small mammals. Golde Hamsters possess the typical rodent feature of incisors. They have a long coat of brownish-gold coloured downy fur.
Unlike mice, Golden Hamsters possess a characteristic short, stubby tail. They have small claws with fur-less paws.[citation needed]
