Great Black-backed Gull, Larus marinus is a species of gull in the Larus genus. It is the largest gull in North America^[2] as well as the world,^[3] the Glaucous Gull being comparable in size.^[4]

Description[edit]

This is the largest gull in the world, measuring 25–30 in (64–76 cm)^[5] and a wingspan of 60–66 in (5.0–5.5 ft).^[4] The adult bird is a white gull with a black mantle; snow-white head and tail; yellow bill with red spot near tip; pink legs and feet.^[4]
