Pets I used to own[edit]
Tiger, the Goldfish[edit]
File:Tiger Goldfish.png
Tiger | |
Gender: Unknown *assumed male*
Date obtained: 2001-2002 *estimate*
Species: Domesticated Goldfish |
Bio:
I'm not exactly sure why I named this Goldfish "Tiger" specifically; however, I assume it was due to my love for tigers in general when I was a kid growing up. From what I remember, Tiger was a white coloured Goldfish with large orange spots around his body. He is the most memorable fish I had raised over the years as a kid and had lived the longest as well for almost 2 years.
Tiger was a playful and energetic fish that loved hiding behind the toys that had been placed in his aquarium. He also had beautiful shiny scales that glimmered in the light. However his passing came rather abrupt; it began when he was placed in the balcony one night by my late grandfather when my family was cleaning up around the house while I was asleep. Unknowingly, a snowstorm came by that night and the entire aquarium had frozen over. Poor Tiger had been frozen within it as well and did not move after the ice melted as well. As a kid, I was shocked by his passing; however, I do remember him dearly and still have a desire to have more fish in the near future as a result of my bond with this one specific and peppy little fish.
Raj, the Syrian/Teddy Bear Hamster[edit]
File:Raj Hamster.png | |
Raj | |
Gender: Male | |
Date obtained: October 2007
Species: Golden/Syrian Hamster (Teddy Bear Hamster) |
Bio:
Raj was my very first pet hamster as well as my first pet that wasn't a fish! I had gotten him as a gift from my father during the time when I lived in Ottawa with my mother and younger sister. As a result of my father living so far away in Toronto, Raj often provided me with company whenever I missed my dad or felt lonely. We had gotten Raj from a local PetsMart. He was an extremely gentle hamster and loved being handled. He often slept in a high punker in his cage and would love attention whenever I was awake during the early morning hours. Raj even accompanied my family on our trip to Toronto in our car!
Unfortunately, Raj passed away about a year after we got him. I won't ever forget the little guy as he was always there to put a smile on my face each morning during the lonely times I had in Ottawa. Raj's name is a derivation of the Indian/Hindi term known as "Rajah" which means king or royalty.
Sonic, the Syrian Hamster[edit]
File:Raj Hamster.png | |
Sonic | |
Gender: Female | |
Date obtained: Summer 2008
Species: Golden Hamster |
Bio:
Unlike Raj and Hershel, Sonic was a pure Golden Hamster with a full gold-coloured fur coat. I originally thought she was a male; however, I later was told by the PetsMart employee that "he" was actually a she! Regardless, the name of Sonic still stuck. Sonic had been a hamster my father helped me pick out after the passing of Raj. However, unlike Raj who was very gentle and loved being handled, Sonic did not appreciate being held at all. She was a very timid hamster and would even attempt to bite when she was stroked. Sonic did not live for very long for unknown reasons and passed away in less than a year. I had no idea of what had caused her untimely death; however, I do regret not being able to spend much time with her.
Sir "Hershel" Embry Layton, the Syrian/Teddy Bear Hamster[edit]

Sir "Hershel" Embry Layton
Gender: Male | |
Date obtained: July 2013
Species: Golden/Syrian Hamster (Teddy Bear Hamster) |
Bio:
Hershel was a Teddy Bear Hamster that my sister and I obtained during the summer of 2014. We got him from a PetSmart near Niagara Falls, Ontario in Canada. He was the third hamster we had gotten overall, and was one of our most memorable pets. He was always on the large side, and we used to tease him by calling him a miniature Guinea Pig! He sure loved eating seeds and running about in his little hamster ball. He would sometimes get stuck in the slightly-too small tubes that were apart of his cage; however, he always did find a way to get out - even if it did take him a while to get unstuck!
Hershel's primary name was inspired by Professor Layton, a character of a well known video game series, that my sister fell in love with during the time we first got this hamster. Wanting to be creative, my sister added some additional names and "fanciness" to his name - considering that this hamster was her very first true pet.
Hershel sadly passed away on December 5th, 2014 for unknown reasons... While he was with us for a short time, he certainly had his own charm and I hope he rests in peace.
Pets I do own[edit]
Lazuli Aincrad, the Budgerigar[edit]
File:Lazuli Aincrad Budgie.png
Lazuli Aincrad | |
Gender: Male | |
Date obtained: January 10th, 2015
Species: Budgerigar |
Bio:
Lazuli Aincrad is one of two budgies that I obtained in early 2015 as my very first pet birds. He is a white and baby-blue coloured Budgerigar. I got Lazuli and his "brother" Blitz Alfheim off a seller from Kijiji (a trading website) along with their cage.
Lazuli appears to be the more hand-tamed budgie as he warmed up to me rather quickly. He is extremely attentive and often energetically watches over the house with curious eyes. He has a habit of chewing his seeds with big bites while his mouth is constantly open! He is also quite a dancer, and often dances when music is played! Additionally, he even taps his left foot while doing so.
Lazuli doesn't mind being held and can even be stroked softly on his belly when he's calm. He's rather kind and passionate; additionally, it seems that he doesn't eat as often as Blitz (though that might be due to how Blitz sometimes attacks him while eating). He sings and chirps quite often. Also it appears that he's rather curious about running water as he always chirps loudly whenever he hears the kitchen sink tap going off. xD He also chirps very loudly whenever he hear Budgie calls.
Lazuli was named by Michelle in reference to Lapis lazuli, a stone of a magnificent blue colour. Aincrad, his additional name, was a name provided to him by my sister - a location from the anime "Sword Art Online".
Blitz Alfheim, the Budgerigar[edit]

Blitz Alfheim | |
Gender: Male | |
Date obtained: January 10th, 2015
Species: Budgerigar |
Bio:
Blitz Alfheim is one of two budgies that I obtained in early 2015 as my very first pet birds. He is a yellow and green coloured Budgerigar. I got Blitz and his "brother" Lazuli Aincrad off a seller from Kijiji (a trading website) along with their cage.
Blitz is rather timid budgie and doesn't like to be handled that much. He does occasionally bite fingers; however, at the moment he has learned to sit on a finger for a short period of time. Despite his shyness, Blitz does enjoy being petted with a long feather! He can be rather pushy and aggressive at times - especially when it comes to food! However, he's still a very sweet budgie and is often more quiet than his "brother" Lazuli.
He sings at certain times and has even learned to dance while walking! Blitz also appears capable of mimicking voices as I could have sworn that I heard him speak in my voice very softly quite a few times in the morning. Unlike Lazuli, tap water and Budgie call noises don't seem to bother Blitz as he often remains very quiet, but attentive whenever either of those noises go off.
Blitz was named by Michelle in reference to lightning which is called "Blitz" in German. The Alfheim portion of his named was given to him by my sister - another location from "Sword Art Online".
